I understand what you're trying to say. It'll cost a ton of money for new skin technology to mimic the real texture of skin with imperfection and wrinkles and pores, but it isn't worth the money because hardly anyone would care about it being that real. Technophiles would care, but not the masses. The masses are fine to play tennis with characters that have no arms or legs and you can't control anything about the character except the swing of the racket. cough* wii sports *coughXCVG wrote:We are starting to hit the point of limited returns or something like that. Basically it's the point where it's so expensive/requires a lot of technology to gain a small amount of realism/awesomeness/whatever. I'm too tired to explain properly.

I don't think graphics even need to be better, except for the Wii. The thing about video games is that they divert you from real life, not become real life

Now take that and combine it with a system like Nvidia's 3D glasses.
Really, we're going to hit the limits of how immersive we can get a 2D representation of a 3D space pretty soon. I bet next we'll start seeing more systems like VR goggles.

If any kind of "Matrix" thing happens in the future, where we plug into a different world, it will be an addiction. People will want to escape their boring and depressing real life for something that feels real, and is better than their real life.
Imagine how retirement will be....
