What kind of speeds are you getting?
You probably need to open some ports on your router/firewall, google "Torrent Open ports" for some info.

Yeah, port forwarding is key.
Don't expect absolutely blazing speeds, however.

And you'll get different speeds from every torrent.

It just depends on the torrent. Some are slow as heck, others have lots of seeds and max out your connection. I leave utorrent's settings the way they were when it installed. I get the little yellow sign in the status bar, but I can still max out my connection with it like that.

Try going to a private site like demonoid, speeds are usually better.

speeds: Im lucky to see double digets (kbps)
port fwd'ing : yea works great untill I re-boot my pc and utorrent is assigned a new random port ( works great still dont see dramatic difference)
set up: I've used it how it was downloaded and I've "tweaked" it per utorrent.com's set up spec's

For the port forwarding go into Preferences and the click on Connection on the left-hand pane, near the top you'll find a check box that says "Randomize port each start", uncheck that and then set the port you want to use above that, once you hit Apply you'll be set for life on that.
Look at the guide I've posted above, it walks you through how you can properly set up your uTorrent client for your connection, it is amazing and you'll love what happens afterward.

Demonoid is not a private site. Any torrent search site will link you to Demonoid torrents.gamemasterAS wrote:Try going to a private site like demonoid, speeds are usually better.
Anyway, the best way to increase speeds in uTorrent (or any torrent client) is to forward the necessary port. It also makes it a lot easier to seed. Other than port forwarding, there are no specific settings that will dramatically increase your speeds.
