I recently came up with a slightly better method, though. Multiple Stuff folders with dates. Right now I have "Stuff, as of 09-02-08" and "Stuff, as of 07-03-08". It keeps one Stuff folder from getting too full.
I do the same for randomly downloaded music. I don't throw it all in together 'cause it gets too cluttered. Instead, I have folders in my main MP3 folder called "NEW SONGS 1" all the way up to 6, at the moment. Periodically, if a significant amount of time goes by before I download another song, I'll create a new "NEW SONGS X" folder. At least this way I have a rough estimation on which folder to look for songs in based on approximately when I know I downloaded the song...

i have one folder in wich there are dozens of subfolders and more layers beyond that, at one time it was logically organized but now its one gigantic file clusterf*** clocking in at over 30gb (not counting anime or music lol) and over 30K files
