What do you want to know how to do by 2018?

Post by Electric Rain » Mon Sep 01, 2008 5:04 pm

Thought this might be a fun thread... What do you want to know how to do (and be good at) in 10 years? My list:

- Become fluent in Japanese
- Learn to play guitar (acoustic and electric) much better than I can now
- Learn to play piano (working on that one as well)
- Learn how to use Nunchuku well and be able to perform free-style routines
- Become an expert in C++

How about you guys? :)

How so? Even a mediocre piano player can rake in the cash as a substitute church musician. You don't even have to believe, just sit there for an hour and play four or five things. Also, playing the piano is like Miracle Gro for synapses and neurons. Reaction time and coordination get a lot of benefit from it. There's so many other benefits, as well. Out of all the things I regret doing, starting piano at age three will never be one of them.

What I want in 10 years.... hmmm. Well, I sure as heck wouldn't mind only having one job. What I really want to learn, though, is cello. I'm a decent student of violin and bass, but I've always loved celli. That, and I'd desperately love to finish restoring my harpsichord and building my pedal harpsichord.

-Become fluent in Chinese, Japanese, and Russian
-Serve my country (well, that's more of a lifelong commitment I'll have, but I'll still be doing it in 10 years, nonetheless :P )
-Learn to play the violin
-Study MMA
-Have my undergrad in International Affairs at George Washington U.
-Win a major Smash Bros. tournament
-Write a dystopian future novel (think 1984, Atlas Shrugged, and current geopolitical affairs all having one grotesque lovechild. )

I think that should keep me preoccupied.

Well, I'd like to know how to program more efficiently and throughout more languages...
Maybe the Japanese language, but in 10 years, who knows if it'll even be worth knowing?
As far as expanding the idea into general goals and whatnot, I'd probably like a BS in some form of Engineering, most likely electrical. Definitely would like to have a better job.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.
