Ben's day job is portablizing and other electronic work. That's part of why his projects cost so much if you want one, there's a lot of time and effort that goes into them and it's what he lives from. If you listen to his podcasts or read the front page you'd know he does a lot more projects (not just portables) that don't make it on the site. Someone hires him to make something and he makes it.

Free tip for you. Quit asking everyone else to make you a portable. Go out and get a soldering iron, and do it yourself. The only way to really learn and get experience in something like this is to do it.

This is really none of our business.

Well it isn't really our business, but it would be encouraging to know that you can make enough money to live off, just by making portables and other projects.

Yeah Ben's I guess made portables/modding electronics his career. I'd like to think that the reason he left the Graphics Design job he had was that he made more money from commissions. And as of today he's released a gaming headset and now a mass produced one-handed 360 controller, so I'm assuming (bad thing by the way) he's doing good from those.

As for getting as good as Ben, it's just learn to solder and handle electronics. Ben's mentioned many times that when he started he knew only what end of the soldering iron to hold. All his current knowledge is from good old trial 'n error, as well some internet research. He's only a genius in the Edison concept.

Yeah, remember he helped design a mass-production model of the one-handed 360 controller. Check the front page, go back about a month or so.

I knew it was in the works, but I didn't know they were for sale anywhere. Do you have a link to the product page?
