Portables Questionnaire

Post by nc » Thu Mar 06, 2008 1:03 pm

For my GCSE Product Design coursework I am required to have a questionaire asking people what they would like to see in a product.

As I am making a PSoneP , I felt it would probably be best to ask you guys seeing as you have heaps of experience.

Try to answer most of the questions if you can , and feel free to answer the questionaire more than once for whatever reason. it will only give me more data. Also , if you can , when replying add the answer rather than just the letter of the answer.

Question 1-

What colour would you like to see the product?

A. Black
B. White
C. Blue
D. Red
E. Green
F. Other (specify)

Question 2-

How would you like the portable to be laid out?

A. Landscape (Buttons at either side of the screen)
B. Portrait (Buttons at the bottom , screen at the top)

Question 3-

Which of these would you prefer in terms of sturdiness?

A. Well built but slightly less portable, with less chance of breaking.
B. More portable but more fragile

Question 4-

Which of these methods of case contruction do you prefer?

A. Hand built
B. Vacuum formed
C. "Frankencasing"
D. CNC cut
E. Other (Specify)

Question 5-

How would you like to see the portable finished?

A. Matte finish
B. Glossy finish

End of questions.

If anyone has any ideas for questions I can add feel free to suggest. thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out!

*Sorry if this is the wrong forum , this seemed the forum for general questions and I felt it was more suited here than to the portables forum.*

1. Black
2. Landscape
3. well built and sturdy, but it doesn't necessarily have to be thick to achive that
4. Vacuum formed
5. Matte. It looks better and doesn't get fingerprints or scratches as easily

Thanks for the response! And I guess you are correct about the thickness comment , I shall change that.

1. Black
2. Landscape
3. Well built (I generally just throw my stuff in my pocket or backpack, screen is the only part I will take the time to make sure its safe)
4. Vacuum formed/anything that makes it curved and not painful to hold
5. Matte, glare from a screen is bad enough, no need to add to it.

1. PSX gray. The PS2 is black, and PSone white shows dirt a lot.
2. Either/or. Landscape would be easier to build, and would give you more room to place buttons.
3. Small but sturdy enough that it doesn't feel like it's going to break if you pick it up. (Use support posts inside.)
4. CNC cut or molded plastic / vacuum formed.
5. Matte. Glossy shows off and amplifies every fingerprint and scratch.

Black (or brown, or creme).
Landscape - easier to hold and use, less ache in hands.
Well built - built to last - what's the point of spending weeks making it and it fails and falls apart?
Hand built - perspex - complete control of result, and perspex is strong.
Matt - doesn't show finger marks so easily.

1. F.- I like silver. Dark grey is nice, too.

2. B.- Landscape feels more comfortable to hold and play

3. A.- Well-built. I like stuff to last, and I'm constantly throwing things in my pack.

4.E.- I'm not too picky as long as it's well-finished to look nice and be comfortable.

5. A.- Matte- Easier to care for, much sturdier.
