An article in the latest Popular Science

Haven't had a chance to post this until now (Physics exam Monday...fun.)

Anybody read the article on engineering bacteria and viruses to do our bidding? They mentioned they've redesigned some to be a cure for tooth decay (that'd be handy, never had a cavity myself but a clean-feeling mouth is always nice), a cure for glaucoma or something, and a promising cure for cancer. Did anybody else think "I am legend"?

Your thoughts? Are these things good, or bad?

Silly kids, trix are for kids! And although I have a subscription, if you don't mind staring at a screen to read (Erm..helloooo, forums!) PopSci is free online.

At least...a bunch of full-length articles are.

It's on pages 64-69, 90, 92, and 94.

Is any scientific or technological advancement purely good or bad? Any advancement is good I say, and this will probably lead to some improvements in medicine. There will always be people willing to use any technology to kill or harm.

One ruined strain could lead to god knows what though. One slip up in the lab could escalate into a global epidemic of a new infection.

You mean like I Am Legend?
Why is it that every time I post in a thread, it dies?
