Actor Heath Ledger dead at 28.

BBC News wrote: Heath Ledger is found dead in US
Hollywood actor Heath Ledger has been found dead at a downtown Manhattan residence, a New York Police Department spokesman has said.

"He was found unconscious at the apartment and pronounced dead," a police spokeswoman said.

Police are investigating whether the Australian actor, who earned an Oscar nomination for 2005 film Brokeback Mountain, died of a drug overdose.

The 28-year-old was found dead in the SoHo flat at around 1530 (2030 GMT).

Police said they did not suspect foul play and that his body had been discovered surrounded by pills.

'Pills'

"We are investigating the possibility of an overdose," police spokesman Paul Browne said. "There were pills within the vicinity of the bed."

Police said he had been due to have a massage at the flat.

The housekeeper went to tell him the masseuse had arrived and found him dead on Tuesday afternoon.

In September the Perth-born actor reportedly split from his girlfriend Michelle Williams, with whom he has a two-year-old daughter, Matilda.

He plays the Joker in the soon-to-be-released Batman film, The Dark Knight.

He also starred in A Knight's Tale and The Patriot, and played a suicidal son in Monster's Ball.
This is pretty surprising news. At least he finished filming The Dark Knight...

I don't want to make an "I'm leaving" thread, but I've sort of lost interest in this board. So if you notice that I'm gone, that's why.

Not to sound cold but, he committed suicide. He was to weak to handle things (despite being rich) and killed himself.

It doesn't sound cold, it sounds copulate ignorant. Mental health issues have nothing to do with being weak or strong. I have no idea about Heath Ledger, but the opinion that depression is caused by weakness is total crap.

They don't know that he committed suicide. Right now it could have been accidental as well. Assuming that someone was "too weak to handle things" is an extremely unfair statement. You have no idea how circumstances were surrounding his life and therefore have no right to judge someone like you did.

And Kurt, that's a slightly morbid approach to looking at death... usually it isn't a good thing when someone dies... :?[/quote]

Assuming that he has no mental health issue, and that he just is having a bad time.

I didn't say that depression is caused by weakness.

True, and if that is the case then it is truly sad.

All I'm saying is that if HE CHOSE DEATH to handle whatever was wrong, than i don't really care.

Seriously? He's been in a lot of movies... Lords of Dogtown, A Knights Tale, Brokeback Mountain to name a few.

And to say you don't care is really heartless... not to sound all sappy here, but seriously. This guy was loved by someone, and to say you don't care isn't all that considerate...

Meh, that's just me... :?

holy crap!!! i'm surprised the girls on my floor haven't been running around screaming. seriously, heath ledger? i never saw it coming.

also, i totally agree that depression or mental illness has NOTHING to do with strength. depression is a chemical disorder in the brain. and most mental illnesses are predisposed to an individual through genetics. people can't help it.
