1. Acetone will do nasty things to your rubber hoses and gaskets. It's cheaper to change your driving styles
2. Be careful with high-octane fuels! As a general rule, large American cars can benefit from it, but import cars usually won't see any benefit. Putting the wrong fuel grade in a car will mess with the timing and at worse cause pinging which is bad news.
3. The best way right now to save money on a car is to buy a mid-90s japanese car (Honda or Toyota). They are safe, get good mileage, cheap on repairs, and work fine at high mileages. You will save more because insurance will be cheaper, you should pay outright which eliminates car payments and interest. Remember, a car's value drops like a bomb the second you drive it off the lot. A couple years down the road, it'll only be worth a fraction of the original sale price. Buy used!

Get a diesel. My first car was an old diesel VW rabbit and it got well over 40mpg. As an added bonus, you also get a nice loud beef cake engine sound. Newer common rail injected diesels are more efficient than the old injection pump engines, but both are more efficient than gasoline engines and can even match or beat hybrid mpg. Stick shift also helps gas milage.
definitely get a VW rabbit . Eric had one it was cool. Its gone now
Also, saying you want to save fuel while driving like a macho man is like saying you are trying to loose weight by eating cake. You cant really do both. Get your license before you decide you cant drive like a normal person.
Some new V8 engines will kill 4 cylinders if you dont need them.
