Place your bets...

Post by SpongeBuell » Tue Jul 13, 2004 4:50 pm

Because today is uber day, I thought a little celebration would be in order. I am willing to allow bets of fake uber dollars as to what Ben's system will be. Betting will close the second before the system is released.

Odds are:
PS2p: 1:1
GCp: 2:1
Dreamcastp: 5:1
Not listed: 25:1
PCp (the kind without the drugs) 30:1
NeoGeop 30:1
Any multi-game system (not including standard backwards compatibility) 50:1
XBOXp: 50:1
Saturnp: 100:1

Sorry, but benheckc, Black Six, and Abbibi are not eligible, as well as anyone else who knows what it is.

All bets can be posted or PMed to me

Good luck

Edit: added a few more possibilities

I'm betting it's not listed.
He did say that most of the portables being released by him for awhile are for project 42, and that limits what they are.
Also, as he said he made the case design in 2 hours, so it must not be too complex.

I bet against the likelyhood of the ps2p. Remember in the list of fried systems that he listed a ps2, which shows that he was indeed working on one, but uless he bought a new ps2 and found a suitable power source I doubt it. Also the fact that he designed the new case in 2 hours makes me think that it isn't a ps2 portable. It took me 2 hours just to design screw posts for my ps2p case.

You have a good point about the design, but the broken systems part could have been from any time, whether it was the day before he posted or a few years ago, nobody knows (besides him)

He said he redesigned it not made a whole different case. He might have just changed a few small things.
But I could have taken it wrong.
Also he did say that it was an UBER portable, possibly the greatest yet! If it's not a PS2p I'm going to be a bit dissapointed.

I'd also like to point out that he said "What portable system is Ben building next?" and he gave 4 possibilities, though abbibi hinted that it may not be on the list.

I read back on the VCSP news updates....
I remember something about a GCN... or was it a Dreamcast?
I'll say Dreamcast.

He did say Dreamcast at one point. Heck, I heard him use that term to describe the dreamcast and one of his 3 mystery portables (the holy grail of them all)

I think it will be a multi game system. A NES/Genesis as a matter of fact. I have no proof of this but I was reading about his NES and he said that when he was younger he taped a Genesis and NES together and ran it off a 9 volt battery. I'm thinking he wanted to do the systems right this time. Plus he says he's worked on it for a while. I might be wrong though.

yeah, I've always thought it would be cool to do a multi-portable, although it would be a little impractical. I think a tristar would be great for it though since the snes and nes are 2 of my favorite systems.

You could build it like a treamcast other wise yea it's a little impractical. But I really think that's what it is though. If it's not that it's most likely a PS2.

New rule: if the system is a dreamcast or anything that does emulation of other systems, it is considered a multi-system ONLY if there is emulation mentioned.
