I need a mode of transportation...

Post by ValiantVenality » Tue Jul 31, 2007 2:02 am

I've been traveling a lot in my little city of Villa Park. Its a very, very, very small city. We have 1 shopping center and thats it. If you look it up on google maps (Villa Park, California) you'll see that its small. Anyways back to the point. I need someway to travel throught the city besides using a bike or electric scooter. Im 13 so i cant have a car or motorcycle. So does anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Umm, bike dude. That's all you're really going to get at this age.

You didn't say it had to be fast....how about the latest, "go faster striped" zimmer frame? You would get noticed!

If you feel dangerous, put two skateboards under the zimmer legs, and try that!

Depending on the traffic laws of your state, you probably can't drive any sort of motorized vehicle on public roads without a license. (It's that way here in MA.)

You're probably just stuck with a bicycle. Get one with low-ish gears and build a trailer for cargo. (You don't need very low gearing if you're not climbing hills and it's not going to haul anything.)

(Slow server today!)

You're stuck with a bike, it's the best non-motorized vehicle there is so it's your best option. Unless you get a fake ID and mustache and get a license, then anything's possible :P

I say the more gears the better if you want to get places fast. I have 21 on my bike but I wish I had more - its easy for me to max out at like 30km/h. I can get places in only twice the time it takes a car. Bikes are awesome.

We saw some guy on a bike in front of us in our van headed to buy clothes for me today. In the end, he got there roughly the same time as us. Bikes = awesome.

But if you want to release the inner geek at the same time, get an electric motor or gas motor for your bike.
Hey, sup?

Build a segway-like device.
Why is it that every time I post in a thread, it dies?

Electric would be better, a gas motor would be more noticeable if you aren't supposed to have it.

I'd say a bike is your best bet for now, plus the more you ride the buffer you'll get. I only live a mile from the new high school thats opening this year, so I'm not riding the bus like I did to the other one I went to last year. I'm 16, no license yet, but even when I do get it, I'm still going to ride my bike to school unless I carpool with people (gas=$$$).

If your town is so small then why dont you walk

I probably end up walking about 5+ miles a day from friends house to friends house.

Why no bike?

To many hills to ride up and down? Yeah same here :P

Walking takes forever though, I can ride down my street in like 30secs but walking takes like 2-3 most likely more.

My street is pretty long though.
