LOL, I've seen a lot of these on ebay, but these ones actually look GOOD! I'd like to see a better resolution than 320x240 though, & the price is a little more than I myself would be willing to pay...

problem with HMDs is they havent improved AT ALL in about a DECADE! standard is still 320x240 with crap FOV, sure they have higer res ones now but they cost around a grand and still have a narrow field of vision (something like 23-30 degrees on average, CRAP) im waiting till you can get a good 800x600 or better HMD with motion tracking and a field of vision above 40 degrees and stereoscopic for under 300$

I'd actually be just fine w/ 640x480 for under $300...

OLED screens should start to appear in HMD's soon, in which case, resolution and quality should jump really quickly.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

Nice... I see this the day after I buy an HDTV. :(

I want that. I guess I have to sell my 360 to get it....

The HDTV is a better thing to get. Keep your 360.

I don't think those things are worth it, primarily due to the very low resolution. (QVGA. Ick!) Like Triton said, hold off until the better ones are more affordable.

Nice idea..but wouldn't having a couple of small screens so close to your eyes screw up your vision over time?

they'll strain your eyes temporarily, yes. used for extremely extended periods of time, they can probably cause minor nearsightedness too.

When would you possibly use them, besides on plane trips?

That + Gyro mouse attached to your head = AWESOME FPS ACTION!

If I get one, I am SO trying that!!

-SCM

EDIT: I just taped my gyro mouse to my head and played a FPS and it was awesome! Video glasses would make it even better because that way you'd never me not facing the screen!

:D dude that just gave me an idea.

Virtual Reality Portable! :D (Get those glasses, get a gyromouse and mod it to left and right mouse buttons, are hooked to a button in your hand. So squeeze right hand for right click, left hand for left click. Much more easier then patting your head.)

using a gyromouse, is just like a wiimote right? Hmm tape a wiimote to my head :p

(Like, it doesnt need to touch anything to move the mouse)

Hmm. Another good idea. How much are Gyromice?

I'm a wannabe independant game programmer. These things have tons of uses... I've been wanting to do VR projects for the past 15 years..... well whenever Lawnmower Man came out around then.

Gyro mice are similar, but I little different. They don't use a sensor bar, they just use tilting to point. It's a little less acurate, but you don't even have to point at the screen to move the mouse.
