Ds?

I agree that you simply can't compare the two. They both have a lot of cool features. So does the gp2x, and so does the n-gage. I mean... the n-gage is a phone... common now! Hehehe.
Anyway I really like my DS, It'll be strong for years to come... until the big N decides to crank something new out... with three screens or dual wielding stylus's or a headset eyepiece thing, or some weird thing like that...

Since when can a PSP play DS (not exactly possible) and N64 (at a decent speed)?sandman2866 wrote:I have a ds and personally I dont really like it the touch screen annoys me most games are made for younger kids and it doesnt play any media other then games I had a psp for awhile till i lost it lol and i like it much better cause it plays movies music and pretty much everything else it especially worth it to get a psp if you know how to put emulators on it cause then u can play ds,n64,gba,genny,nes,snes,ps1 and psp games on it plus you have an internet browser. But bassically I think the psp is for an older age group and the ds was made more for a younger age group
I own a DS (the fat one) and a GP2X. I use both just about as frequent, as they are utilized for differnet things. I use my DS for playing all those awesome DS games (FF3, Castlevania DoS, the new Pokémon games coming out soon, etc.) and my GP2X for emulation and movies. If I had a PSP instead of a GP2X, I would probably use it for mostly the same things, but it would be inferior mainly because of the screen. The fact that the GP2X screen is NOT widescreen makes it better for emulation (old systems were never in WS) and from what I've heard, 2D games look awful on the PSP screen because of the blur and such. Also, memory cards for GP2X (SD) are cheaper than for PSP (Memory Stick). The main pluses for PSP homebrew that I can see are fullspeed PS1 emulation and WiFi.
All the systems are great systems; they just have different uses and for what I want, a DS coupled with a GP2X is best. For someone else, that may not be the case, but this is my opinion.

DS: pwns PSP with its "official" games, dual screens, and its touchscreen.
PSP: pwns DS with its faster processor, emulators for more advanced systems, and more popular/easier homebrew (just as long as you have the right firmware, nothing else to buy unless you need a memory stick). Most of its official games suck butt and have super long load times.

damn i was going to write something along those lines but you already did. also i dont think its fair to compare the two since the ds is supposedly 3rd pillar and not part of the gameboy line, even still though its games are better. and for you people saying ooh tetris ds theres a nes emulator that has wifi so not only could you play tetris online, i could be wrong about this, but also contra. personally if i was actually buying commercial games i would buy the ds but since im all about the homebrew im trying to get a psp. ooh man think how cool it would be to play super spy and mohawk and headphone jack on the govskid wrote:DS: pwns PSP with its "official" games, dual screens, and its touchscreen.

In reality playing Homebrew is such a pain it's not even worth it.toby dawg wrote:ya but on the go.
psp is still easier and cheaper than a ps2 portable.
and then there is the homebrew
DS: Unique concept adds a new edge to gameplay, touchscreen and dual screen, comfortable, very decent games released (Worms Open Warfare, Super Mario DS, Nintendogs, Mario Kart DS), very crisp screens, durable and long battery life, but JUST for games.
PSP: Bad faceplate, looks cool at first but gets greasy and grubby quickly, screen suffers from blurring effects in SOME (not all games) and it's easily breakable, can play videos, music and look at pictures, not a feature used too often though in favor of games, Homebrew is existant but a female of the dog species. Nice design, too many ports/collections, short battery life and short shelf life.
Both have advantages and disadvantages but i'll spend LESS money and buy a DS.
Somebody please buy my Dreamcast >_> £20+shipping
Ok, thanks for the opinions guys
i thought the psp had a larger library of good
games... well threre are about 5 ds games worth getting for sure
Mario 64 (best ds game still) mario kart, diddy kong racing (love it)
Meteroid and new mario bros. (most are from nintendo)
Some ds games suck badly (you have to admit) like pak and roll, Pak pix, and various other non nintendo games...
Also, maybe its because it was a older ds but the touch screen is not very
scratch resistant.... mine is almost unreadable...

What? You don't like pokemon? I preordered the new game and am raising a team for online battles and they are going to kick butt. I really really want that game.toby dawg wrote:.....pokemon....Krepticor wrote:hey don't knock either!
Both platforms are getting some great titles their way, the PSP is getting a CASTLEVANIA collection as well as some 3d Final fantasies, the DS is getting the new Pokemons and the games out for it now are really good

Advance Wars: Dual Strike - great turn based RPG
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - good 2D Castlevania
Elite Beat Agents - incredibly addictive rhythm game
Feel the Magic - quirky, fun, minigame-type game not worth more than $10
Final Fantasy III - fun, long, RPG
Tetris DS - 'nuff said
Also, I've had my DS Phat for about a year and scratch-wise, the touch screen isn't too bad. I did get screen protectors last fall though.
