Ideal computer for 3D work?

Help me design my computer for working with intense 3D software!

Im am so confused!

I am unsure as to what processor to get or what motherboard to get...

Basically i need a lot of speed, at least 2gb of ram and a good case!

if you guys could point me in the right direction id appreciate it!

What sort of 3D software are you using? 3d moderling, animation, or just 3d games. Also whats your budget?

modeling (blender, terragen 2 and vue) animation (same) and games maybe...

unfortuneately i cant afford a mac pro ( im looking to make it myself to save money) but i have a budget of about AU$1000
