Cool, but I'd rather have normal non-mutant XMB Waves  And does anyone have a great Icon set for their XMB? I can't find any good ones for 3.10 OE-A

I like my mutant waves. They're cool. 8)

Wait... you can flash custom icons on 3.10 OE without bricking? I just made an icon set and flashed it like 15 minutes ago and it bricked when I flashed it...

You can't have custom icons in 3.10 OE-A, Sony hid everything.

Damn, oh well. I found the gameboot.pmf anyway, so at least i got that flashed. Kinda sucks though...I really want custom icons. Should've stayed at 3.03 OE-C :?

Is there any way to get rid of the PSP logo laid over the gameboot in 3.10 oe? The only way I know of doing it is in Xflash, and that doesn't work in 3.10.

So would it be best to have 3.10 OE-A or 3.03 OE-C?

In my opinion 3.10 is better to have. There's a lot of people who've complained about it not being a worthwhile update, saying the changes are too small to be bothered with. Also you even lose the small cosmetic customization feature of editing XMB icons. However, not only will it support 3.10 games, it's also got PS1 emulation with increased compatibility. Now PAL games will line up correctly on your screen. Also there are other changes, as read in vb's post above.

Also if anyone can identify the specific numbers that edit specific characteristics in the waves, tell me. I'd like to see the following able to be changed at will rather than at random:

Color
Speed
Width

I know how to change the color and speed! For the speed, there are 2 instances where it says "speed1.max", and you can just change the 1 to any value from 1 to 9. For color, there's a section that says 000111222333444555666777888. Each set of 3 digits corrosponds to one line, and you change the digits as if they were RGB values, except the first one is blue, second is green, and third is red. So if you want all blue, one green, and one red, it'd be (in hex) FF3030FF3131FF3232FF3333FF3434FF3535FF3636FF373738FF383939FF. You get the idea. And you can change the width, but I'm not sure how. But someone on the qj forums said that the width value was next to the color values.

Also, there seems to be a switch for transparency, as displayed by one of the ones I downloaded. I'd like to find this as well. Thanks Ari. Time to make something cool!

One more question, vb. Is it possible to use a premade system_plugin_bg.rco and edit it rather than make another? I like one of the ones on QJ but I'd like to change the colors of the waves.

That should be possible since they had to unpack the original file to distribute the program...

You're welcome, Mageslayer. Glad I could help! I'm usually the one asking questions about things and it's nice for it to be the other way around sometimes. :)

icon-coder -d < input.bin > output.bin. 78DA is the header for the zlib compression.

PSP Firmware 3.11 Decrypted

For those of you that wish to decrypt the new Sony firmware here is your chance to.

Team C+D latest decrypter works with 3.11.

I have uploaded the latest firmware dumper.

To dump the firmware open up the Eboot with psp brew or PBP unpacker

2.Extract the DATA.PSAR to the root of your memory stick.

3. Copy psar_dump2 and psar_dump2% to your GAME150 folder. (Or whatever you kernel is set to)

4. Launch it from the game menu.

5. Select what option you wish to have. Then it will dump the contents to the root of your memory stick.

Enjoy

This was the same decrypter they released to to decrypt 3.10 it also works with 3.11 so this is not a new release of the program.

Thanks Team C+D for your great work. Sonys new firmware defeated again.
