PS One Screen in a Nissan Hardbody Truck Dashboard

Post by The Zydeco King » Thu Dec 07, 2006 9:13 pm

here's some photos of the mod I did to my Nissan truck dash board last weekend. I own a 91 Nissan Hardbody mini truck. the origianl dash didn't have any gages on the left side, so I thought it would be nice to have a PS one screen in the blank area of the dash.

I used a Dremel tool to carve a recess in the plastic for the PS one screen to fit flush into.

I had to make the screen sit low enough so when I placed back the gages they would cover the left and right parts of the screen's circuit board.

I covered the metal frame of the screen with black electrical tape

Then I put the dash back together and tested the screen with Teken3.

Awesome, but is it legal to have a screen there?

Yes it's legal as long as I don't turn it on while I'm driving.
I still need to hard wire the car power adaptor to the screen with an on off switch and I also plan to relocate the brightness control buttons to the dash.
I don't have the internet at home, I'm posting this from a friends house so this means I won't be able to answer all questions right away.

Most places it's illegal to have it in view of the driver, although I suppose it's not much worse than a center console one...
Just don't play while driving....

Especially a racing game, that could turn out really bad.
I feel sorry for you, no internet at home. I almost died from not having it for a week.

Wow, cool mod (and driving policies  )! Gotta be fun for the passenger side, at least!

That there, is a good idea.
Or, on a more useful note, you could mount a camera on the back bumper for reversing.

And the point of that is?

You should come up with stupid ideas that people try.
