HOW DO THEY DO THAT! the eagle has to have some weight in the body does it not?

Yes but the weight in the ends of the wings (which hang over the other side of the pillar) equalizes it.

I did something like that with a birthday present once. I stuck a couple barbell weights in one corner and put it on the table so taht corner was the only part that was supported. Fun! :P
