Imagine you had unlimited funds to create the ultimate game with only one other restriction besides your imagination. The game's format had to be an original GB cart.
Your specifications are,
160 x 144 pixels resolution graphics
Monochrome (Black and white) graphics
Stereo sound
A, B Start Select and direction buttons for controls
No 3D/Accelerator hardware
8 bit only
Recorded sound can only be used on a very limited basis, mostly midi-type music and sound effects.
You can either describe the premise of the game, or design and post screenshots, or if you want to be a real smart-arse, you can do both!

Then how did they make Faceball 2000? A first person shooter that supported up to 16 players in a weird LAN type connection?gamer2 wrote: No 3D/Accelerator hardware

From what I can tell, it used either special hardware or math.
There used to be this great game on the Mac, Spectre VR, which had filled polygon graphics, but required no 3D accellerator card. (It's sort of like Battlezone.)

I'd make a Gameboy port of that.
Or maybe a GameBoy PDA cartridge with a keyboard-cradle thing. (Think the keyboard on a PS2 controller, but on the bottom of the GameBoy.) Of course you could print out notes and stuff with the Game Boy Printer.
Maybe a music player for Game Boy? It could pull all the music off an SD card and pipe it through the speakers / headphones. (I'd imagine the cartridge would have to do most of the decoding.)
How about a music composition cart? It could connect through USB to the PC so you can dump MIDIs on it. Maybe it could connect to another gameboy with the same cartridge to get a Gameboy duet going...
Coming up with silly ideas is fun!
Maybe I'll put together some screenshots when I feel like drawing.

I'd love to see a version of 3d pong. I don't know if it would work, but it would be fun to try. I'm sure if anyone had the expertise to code for the GBO theres a flash cart to dump the fully legal homebrew rom http://www.gatesboy.com/

Well, after about 20 minutes of pixel pushing, I came up with this:
WINDOWS GB!
<img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/Stuf ... esktop.gif">
Here's the expansive 23,040 pixel desktop!
<img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/Stuf ... /gbdos.gif">
Command Line interpreter
<img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/Stuf ... b/gsod.gif">
Forget the blue screen of death: behold the GREY SCREEN OF DOOM!
<img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/Stuf ... gbword.gif">
Windows XG can be used for many purpouses, such as word processing with the uncluded Word GB.
e-mail me some suggestions for WinGB programs, and I'll make a few pictures of the good ones!
No PMs.
