No I'm sorry gamey but it was not a fanboyish question, it was completely unbiased and is a valid question. When I go out to by a "Next-gen" game console, I want to be buying power, not just a fancy controller strapped to a current gen consol, any 3rd party accessories company could do that. Next gen is not all about graphics, it is also about making smarter AI, better physics, more intuitive code. PC gamers would agree that the current gen consoles have been pushed to the max already and that their ability to run more powerful, smarter, and more intuitive code is almost non existant. PC gamers have already been enjoying the next gen technology for a while now, and if you have ever gamed on a PC you know that it is a completely different experience, much more challenging to your brain rather than how fast you can pull the trigger on retarted weak scripted AI models running in a circle. Next gen is time for an advancement.
1: Will you actually be testing and reviewing the Ps3 (*coughinsidewalmartcough*) and the Wii to rid us of your biased opinion?
2: Do you think politics will have any bearing on the sales of different game systems, seeing as the 360 is a bit of an outcast, being produced in America?
3: Who outweighs the market, raving internet fanboys or "Joe six pack?"
4: How much of your life is consumed by portable work, ben specifically?
5: Is gaming worse than Tv, or is watching Tv worse? Both, I hear are rather unhealthy.
6: Does anyone even care about the previous question?
7: About how many downloads do you get per pod/zunecast?
8: Think there will be a hardrive attatchment for the Wii, for Nintendo to recieve more cash?

hardware convergence
This question is more of a futurist exercise, but maybe you guys would like to address it:
Do you forsee a time when hardware consoles will largely be the same, and prehaps even produced to a common specification due to just sheer economy of scale?
Imagine something like a box that says Nintendo on the front, but that just means it will play Mario, et. al. The real guts would be produced by Sony, LG, or someone else with actual chip foundry access. Systems could even just tie into networks much like cell phones do now, so really the brand is totally cosmetic and just represents a service/access to exclusive properties.
Guess it is up to you guys to do the speculation, but it just seems like the way things could go now that Apple is seriously close to just slapping the fruit logo on a Dell box and calling it a day.
Zunecast/Podcast/Pleasedontsuemestevecast is great. Keep it up and help me stay sane against the zealous fanboydom that has punctuated that last 2 years of this Revolution/Wii run-up. I'll be listening whether you address my question or not.

Sparkfist - I bold your question, so Ben will notice it.

way to pose loaded questions guys! *coughcoughbiccough* and yes xpc that was a fanboyish question wether you say it was or not, by simply asking such a question you show marked bais against the wii! i shall now rant!
it ticks me off to no end to hear things like "the wii is a GC on steroids" or "its basically an xbox with a fancy controller" NO IT ISNT ! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD it has some hardware in common with the gamecube, none with the xbox, it is at the very least twice to three times the processing of the gamecube with a great deal more ram AND OTHER INPROVEMENTS, it really ticks me off when people judge something without having researched it, tested it and taken time to form an opinion AFTER THE FACT. basically we have no way to judge the graphical and other power of the wii, all 90% of us have seen are screenshots and crappy youtube videos. to sum it up
JUST BECAUSE IT ISNT AS POWERFUL AS XB360 OR PS3 DOESNT MEAN IT ISNT NEXT GEN also the wii is 50$ cheaper than xbox, mebe they dont buy xbox because THEY DONT WANT IT. duh. also please keep in mind that the WII will be the ONLY console to actual make profit on a per unit basis, M$ and sony lose money on every system they sell. saying the wii is so expensive when you can buy TWO OR MORE for the price of one ps3 or a wii and a game for the price of the (semi useless) core xbox360 is just short of idiotic. also to quote sparkfist from another thread

so yeaThe Wii's going to be running a PowerPC CPU . The ATI Hollywood graphics card is likely something based off the Radeon X series, I don't know of any other information. That's really killing something like the Xbox with is a PIII that's only 733MHz, nVideo graphics that are 16-32MB and only 64MB system ram, that's nothing compared to todays computes and most of these new consoles speces are only a year (xbox 360's 2 year) old.

Question: What happened to the nPod?
Question: Do you think Blue-Ray will have a positive effect on video games? Like better graphics, larger worlds and more game play, or will it be just more room to add cinimatic?
Question: Is there a chance of you making a move based off a video game?

Jeez, bud. Calm down. It's not like statement of opinion one way or another in this case will cause the planet to careen into the sun, thus raising the temperature and frying billions of people like an egg in a pan. (That's the 360's job.)Triton wrote:way to pose loaded questions guys! *coughcoughbiccough* and yes xpc that was a fanboyish question wether you say it was or not, by simply asking such a question you show marked bais against the wii! i shall now rant!

Fine. Here's an "un-weightied" question:
<b>Are new games really more fun than the classics?</b>
Besides, I was referring to games like "Super Mario 64 DS", and the "Super Mario Advance" series.

I have one that no one's asked, surprisingly!
Do you believe video games can be considered art, or is that title too generous? And on the flip-side, you also have to ask if you consider movies to be art form, if they can achieve that status, that is...
Oh, and one more: Will you EVER give us our :WTF: ICON?!?!

yea i tend to go a bit overboard, not all of that was directed at you of course bic! just because a game is a sequal or rehash doesnt mean its a bad game, sometimes but not always. keep that in mind! lol
