If only they could see this...I mean... C'mon! Guns are allowed!?!?! I'm just happy that guns are illegal over here in the UK, it's better to be safe than sorry....
Actually, the country with the lowest crime rate in the world is Sweden. Wanna know why? Because all citizens are allowed to carry guns! You'd be surprised how much fear can do to keep criminals in line!

Yes, this is too bad. This happened in a place about 10 miles from the town Jones and I are from! Also Dale tells me a friend of ours teaches there. Also my sister lives in that town.

HOWEVER this topic is getting a little political, so watch it. That said, I'm sure Jack Thompson is having a field week.

Personally I'd blame wussy "time out corner" parenting for this sort of thing rather than videogames but that's just me. Also kids are becoming over-the-counter dope fiends - back in the 80's we were all told "don't do drugs" now half the kids in America are doped up by their parents.

Like with myself, I have a hard time keeping on a project, the slightest excuse to try something or work on something different and I do. Is that ADD? Maybe. Creativity and branching out? Probably. Luckily I grew up back when they didn't dope you for being the slightest bit different (and believe me , I was) Strangely enough my half-brother (who is 11 years younger than me) IS on drugs, even with the same mother. So times have changed I guess.

Sorry for the drug rant. Anyway, yes, don't let this topic get political (ie gun controls/laws) Rather, WHY do people do this?

(I have crept out of the rock that is "homework" and stepped onto the surface again)

Crimes nowadays are getting pretty redicilous. Expcially the suicidal kind. So this week we've had two major shootings at two different schools around the USA. Everyday in the middle east, extremists are blowing up themselves, cars, and any people around them. It's crazy what kind of a world we live in where people are willing to sacrifice themselves not for any personal gain, to take the lives of other people. Well in the case of the middle east, they actually have something to believe in. (which IMHO its bologna)

I couldn't fathom the mindset of a suicide killer. It blows my mind what some people out there do to leave their mark on the world.

Guns, in my opinion are not bad unless they are in the wrong hands.(well duh. But some people don't like guns at all) From what I've seen, the only reason to have an assault weapon is if you are in the army/services. I mean, yeah it'd be sweet to have a real steel AK47 rifle, but it is the deadly potential that I think should limit its use. I think handguns/tasers/spray for self defense are great to have, but not everyone out there has the mindset to use them responsibly. (which leads to events like these.)

(I started writing this before bens last post, so I'ma shrink my opinions on laws.)
There is no real test for responsibility out there, so I think parents need to teach their kids moral values when they're young, so they can make healthy, responsible choices in their futures.
It is a crazy world we live in.

It's at times like this when I'm happier than usual to be homeschooled.

Screwy world, eh?

I am at the very least glad to here that he wasn't able to perpetrate the crime without a fight.

And to the gun law stuff: Neccesity is the mother of invention. Take away guns from the populus and they will eventually think of something else to replace them.

People ask me and others I know "Why did this happen?"

To be fair, probably no one honestly knows. Unless these kids are writing suicide notes (of which I've heard nothing about), everything we conject are mere guesses. That being said, I think I have a pretty informed guess.

High School is chuck full of unchecked and unrelenting stress and presure. This goes doubley for people who honestly think that the social situation has the sslightest bit of importance. I learned long ago that it doesn't and it was a burden off my shoulders. I know that every snot-nosed, punk-ass popular kid that puts you down isn't wirth the dirt under your shoe and that 75%+ are going to be clueless when it comes to real life. They mean nothing.

Then again, words hurt. I hat people who say "Sticks and Stones can break my bones but names can never hurt me." Like hell. Of course it hurts. Mental torture will always be the toughest. On ther other hand, to let these popular asswipes get the better of you only shows how equally shallow you are. Except you went a step farther and took a life. You suddenly go from the innocent victim to, literally, the blood stained criminal.

Meh, I'm probably just reiterating what we've heard about this time and time again, but it doesn't make it any less true.

I don't think it's gun control here that's a problem. Hell, violent crimes are at an all time low. And school shootings and suicides have been going on forever. Way before Columbine, some guy with a shotgun pulled the fire alarm, waited by the exit and picked off little kids one by one. This was way before video games and television and Jack Thompson.

Honestly, every time I hear the term "Those kids are getting worse every day, damn hoodlums" I want to scream. WE are less violent than every before, we are commiting less crimes, and we're still awful little children.

Times like these im glad i live in england

not becuase of gun control laws or that

simply because from what i can tell our school atmospheres are a lot less laid back, we dont have "popular people" that everyone wants to be friends with or people that think they're better.

Pretty much no one cares, which is both good and bad because most kids dont care at all and leave school with nothing.
