I don't like the new design as a long term site, but I think it's a good idea. I'm expecting nothing short of an apocalyptic bandwidth rape when it's realeased. How about a mass PM is sent to everyone on the forums before posting it on the main page, that way everyone here will get a chance to see it before the server goes down in flames...

Maybe we should put the forum at a new adres for awhile and hide the link from the main page then make the admin's post the new link too the e-mail adresses of the forum members.

If you really wanted to save some bandwidth you could remove that frame from the top of each page ;)

Looks a bit hurried but its ok, it just needs a bit of glossing up!

P.S. When are we expecting the release of the xbox360 laptop?

That frame doesn't change when you clicl links. Frames pages actually work like 2 seperate windows, but they can open links inot each other. In this case, the top frame holds the navigation stuff and stays put, while the bottom frame loads the pages.

The forums muct really suck down the ol' bandwidth. You can all help by:
  • - Logging in through the login button at the <b>bottom</b> of the age, instead of loading an additional login page.
    - Using the "Jump to:" feature down at the bottom of the page
    - Ease up on browsing. (Wait a bit longer than usual to check a thread)
    - Keep edits and posting down (Don't just post one sentence posts, or any spam at all). Also don't preview posts a ridiculous number of times.
Adding images to posts (besides smileys) does not increase bandwidth usage.

But as far as the new, temporary "batten down the hatches mode" home page goes, I don't like it as much as I like the normal one. However it appears to be almost entirely HTML (few images), so it's great for conserving bandwidth.

Too bad the site isn't done in CSS. If it was, you could easily toggle between normal mode and "clobberred bandwidth" mode by swapping out the .css file and index.html with the minimal ones. (plus the actual HTML files would probably be smaller because you won't have tons of redundant formatting code.)

Ben, I know you're gonna need some extra help with hosting the 360p, so if you want me to, I'll host it on my site, or at least the pictures, I got unlimited bandwidth, once again.

Nice design, as I already said, but might want to fix that 'new page 1' titlebar ;)
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.
