 today i had a chance to ride my bike down to funcoland to see if they had any DS lites. the guy looked around and said "its your lucky day" i was real happy and took my new lite home to charge after an hour or two i start the bugger up and i have a freakin' stuck pixel right in the middle of the touch screen. i returned it of course but they dont have any more in stock anywhere

sorry to post such a meaningless thread but i expected nothing like this in a product from nintendo

and to make it a bit less blog like, has anybody else ever been dissapointed when they got something they thought would be super female of the dog species and it was defective

If you call Nintendo they will send you a free DS Light, all you have to do is ship the defective one back in the box that the new one comes in. I had the same peoblem with my original DS, called em up, they sent one out (and you get to use the old one till the new one arives) and when it arived I just sent the old one back.

Mind you I would have returned it to the store but everywhere in my city was sold out...

I've been usually lucky when it comes to electronics. I am kinda pissed though that when I picked out my laptop that I wanted for gaming, at the time I didn't really know what were good requirements. Later I found out I got severely ripped off and N64 emulation sucks ass on it.

Now a little bit off topic, I miss the funco land I used to have  Damn you gamestop, damn you.

true but it pales in comparison to the psp on release, ds like mebe 2-3 dead/stuck pixels and nintendo will take them back no questions asked if there is even ONE. sony unless you had an assload dead, like 1/3 the screen you were up crap creek, ive heard of psps with 10+ dead pixles lol, nintendo pwns

I had a dead pixel on the bottom screen but now it's gone... :? Maybe it was something from my red shirt... But I'm not sure. That sucks though.
If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.

when lcd screens are mass produced, a lot of them have at least one dead pixel (although im sure manufacturing technology is slowly getting better). if they threw out every single screen with a dead pixel, the price of LCD screens would be ridiculously high.

i know that for comptuer LCD monitors, manufactuers each have their own rules about how many dead pixels means 'defective'. some of them are as high as 9!

that said, there are big companies that offer a "no dead pixel policy". but im just saying... dead pixels are a pretty common thing and a part of life. you still have a pretty awesome piece of gaming equipment there.

Too bad, if you had a ram cart you could use the pixel fixer rom (works some times, not always)

No kidding! It's the PSP pixel complaining problem all over again.

Anybody have a DS Hevy (Phat, original, etc) that has a stuck pixel? I've never seen one. Which begs the question, why does this only happen to backlit LCD's?

My brother's DS Hevy has a single light blue dead pixel on his screen.

I heard that with Nintendo, it doesn't matter how many dead pixels there are, it depends on if it dents your playing experience or ability, or something.

The original DS was backlit, and yeah I've heard of dead pixels in them.

My SP had a dead pixel. Took it back to futureshop and they gave me a new one(in blue which is better than silver) and all the asked is if I thought it was defective and i said yes(dead pixel and scratched up on the top). Even the box was a bit mangled and they still took it anyway.

I had this happen with my Dell Axim X50v there was one light blue pixel in the corner that drove me crazy (Even though it was extremely tiny), but after about 6 months it just went away.

And I'll keep the returning to nintendo thing in mind if I ever wind up with a dud unit.

And the DS is not backlit, it is frontlit with LED's and diffusers.

My neighbor had a dead pixel on his DS Hevy, but he pushed on it for a few minutes and it went away. Maybe you could try it?
