Nah, search 'projector panel' on ebay. I ordered an NView one. Just stick it over an old overhead bought from a school, and you've got a 50" projector. A lot of projector panels can be had for $20-$30, and a lot of them come with composite, S-video, and VGA, not to mention some have remote controls.

so if you buy a projector panel and a school overhead projector and you attach the panel to the overhead you can play video games on them right??

If the projector panel has composite in, then yeah.

@Harshboy, So is 15 in. the biggest you can go with the LCD and still have it display everything on the projector? I want to do this, so I'm trying to figure out what it with cost for the screen.

Yes. You can probally get a nice 15 in. LCD for 100-150 tops. I think i might finally be able to do this since my dads old compy died and there was a nice 15 in. LCD being used on it :D Just need to buy a projector from my skool.......or eBay, either one :P

EDIT: This is what i'm using as my LCD

There was a thread about this topic about 6 months ago, and it inspired me to build a DIY projector of my own.

I guess this is a good time to show a few pics of it:

Unfortunately, I can't set it up at home right now to get a pic of it running (I used it for our TV in the college dorm, but I've moved home now for the summer), My parents will kill me for making a mess in the living room.

Here's a pic of the Metal Halide bulb with the ballast and other circuitry, which normally sits under a mirror. The mirror is removed for the picture:

I will try to get more pics if this thread gets any more in depth, but for now, these should be fine.

All hail SNESguy's magic pyramid. :D That looks pretty cool. If I make one, I'll just be lazy and use an overhead. Does anyone know if any LCD will work? And Harshboy, If you can get an overhead from your school for $50, its a pretty good deal because all the ones on ebay cost a lot for shipping.

Yah, I started that thread after I found Lumenlab and bout my projector. I now have a lovely XGA (1024x768) projector that I can do anything with basicly. The thing cost me $300 CDN, mostly because I had to buy a $150 LCD. I plan on getting at 17" Widescreen TV eventually so I can make a HD projector. Hmmm $800 for a homemade HD projector or $3000 for a commecial one... tough desision.

Plus the most important part... it's really freaking fun! I had a blast making it and enjoy it every day.

I bet you could do it with a psone screen but it would look like crap when it is 100" of pixelation on your wall :D
