Video on PSP

Post by Harshboy » Thu May 11, 2006 2:46 pm

Ok, i have tried many different programs and i cant seem to get videos to work on the PSP. Whether its a hombrew app to run wmv or a tut to convert wmv(s) to the special mp4 and other file. I dont know, and it makes me so mad! Also, it needs to be free :P

WMV sucks. WMA sucks. Proprietary, closed formats suck.

Try downloading VLC Media Player from here and opening the file with it. It may play properly. If it does, use the Transcode/Save to File wizard to convert it to an MPEG 4 video (which isn't "special" to the PSP at all. 8))

The only problems I have had with VLC playing files are RealMedia (sucks, see above statement) and some .WMV movies that use the Windows Media version 3 compression. (I don't think they have it figured out completely yet...)

On a 1.5 PSP, you need a .MP4 with a strange name and another file. So, I dont know.

well if you have 1.5 you COULD use psp video 9 to convert them to mpeg-4's, but you could also use the PMP (psp media player) which can play i believe divx, avi, wmv, and a few more formats.

and about the names, 1.5 can only support mpeg-4 and they are named M4V(five numbers).mp4 an example would be M4V10001.mp4
