The Ancient Beast (My RPG)

The Ancient Beast

This is my first finished RPG (which i am very proud of), it is acually somewhat good but there is one bad thing... It doesnt have leveling up or invetory, a RPG dont need that as long as your roleplaying. Although it does have monsters and a horrible battlesystem (kinda like the old FinalFantasy or Zelda games battlesystem).

it is like 1.5MB or something... Not big at all...

Plot: You play the role of a young hero named Veir. The Ancient Beast named Tark has murdered your family, and now you must avenge there death and destroy Tark! You will travel threw beaches, dungeons, snowlands, and come accross puzzels and more!

You will also fight many giant bosses! There is a giant dragon that you will have to fight that takes up the entire screen!

Controls:
W,A,S,D = Move
Arrow Keys = Move
Space = Hit with sword
F1 = Gameinfo
F2 = Save game
Escape = Goto menu
Left Pressed Mouse = Actions, like talking to people or seeing why you cant go threw a door (incase its locked) and other stuff too like picking up something.... Remember to left press mouse a lot to see what is going on...

The game contains blood by the way if you need to know (just blood)

If you get stuck or whatever, i can easily tell you what to do...

Please tell me if you beat it and what you thought of it...

Some of the sprites and music are from RTP

If for some reason this thread is breaking one of the rules close it...

Pretty good for a first RPG. And when you say RTP, do you mean RPG Maker RTP?

Is RPG maker any good? I make RPGs in C++. Does RPG maker require programming skills, or is it more of a drag and drop type deal? Maybe somewhere in between?

Thanks,

Yeah. RPG Toolkit and RPG Maker are 2 programs that are basically drag and drop RPG designers. They have a simplistic code system too, so n00bs can make stuff.

I'd personally use something better, like Flash.
Hey, sup?

Well in RPG Maker XP, you can use Ruby coding. If you have RPG Maker XP, try my game out. It's a Pokemon remake, i never finished it. Heres where you can download it: www.pbtarget.com/MSB.exe

@ Thornwillow

That's pretty neat - that you actually finished something you started, I mean. Myself: I start things and never finish them.

Of course we all expect your next RPG to be at least twice as good as this one :wink:

I know it's a different genre, but has anyone ever used Adventure Game Studio? It's not too difficult to use, but I don't have the patience to make anything fancy so I didn't get much further than "walk-around-and-click-on-stuff". :P
