Metal Slug on the Wii: Turning even the most experienced portablizer into a babbling noob.
Sounds pretty cool. I'm sure you'll all massacre me for this, but I've never played a Metal Slug game. Sounds like fun, though, and I'll most likely pick up this anthology for the Wii.

Imagine a more teenager-friendly mario, in that it is not all that "cute", and you basically have Metal SlugWeebl wrote:I'm sure you'll all massacre me for this, but I've never played a Metal Slug game.
I would strongly recommend emu- I mean, getting a Neo Geo system with Metal Slug so you can try it out.

yeah for those of you that have a 2X i would strongly reccomend trying metal slug X and 1-5 on gngeo its a great emu. back on topic, i wonder what they have in store for the wii controllers though?
EDIT: and i just thought i'd say this, any of you thinking about buying a 2X wait a week or two there is a better design that has the joystick rotated 45o so that it isnt as bad

I wonder if the Wii will have Game Genie support, seeing as Nintendo still hates them. I asked them if tensions are still high between them and Galoob (and I also asked why Terranigma never made it to the US. No reply on that, though). Here's what they said:

I'm taking that as a no. I would mod it, but I really would hate to lose my Wii (both of them ) Also, the name has kind of grown on me. After reading Nintendo's corny write-up on why they named it the Wii, I'm almost convinced.NOA Rep wrote:Message(#6851-000498-8356\4988356)
Hi Josh,
Thank you for your e-mail. While you have a great question, I'm not sure why Terranigma was never released here. Since you're a My Nintendo member, you may want to discuss this subject with other players via our forums at the following address:

As for the Game Genie, we still do not recommend the use of this unlicensed product, so we will be unable to add any sort of troubleshooting steps to our website on this subject. Although you may have already seen this on our site, unlicensed products may not work at all with our game systems, and they may have compatibility problems with certain games or accessories. You can recognize licensed products by the Official Nintendo Seal on their packaging. This seal ensures quality and compatibility. For more information, please visit the following web page:

I hope that you find this information helpful.

The Wii will probably not have any sort of Game Genie, and here's why.
The Game Genie only works with cartridges because it can intercept requests for the ROM and alter the return data if it is recognized.
With a disc-based system that's a bit impossible. The most feasible way to get Game Genie functionality would be to make some sort of circuit that intercepts the signals between the DVD-ROM drive and the interface board. That, however, will require extensive reverse engineering because the transfer protocol is almost guaranteed to be proprietary.
