They're just about there. Have you played Half-Life 2 or Oblivion today? Scary man, awesome, yet scary.Gamelver wrote:to be able to reverse engineer the 360 back then would be almost impossible....no, strike that, it'd be impossible for sure. They'd have to figure out how to make 3.2Ghz processors and what not, all from one 360. Then the software, you'd have to be able to reproduce that.
In short, it'd be cool for people back then, but they couldn't reproduce it or improve it, so technology would just continue improving at the same pace (perhaps faster from motivation of seeing the 360, I dunno).
anyway, it would be better to just fantasize about graphics 20 years from now. I predict: photo realistic, or damn close....

Yeah very cool up to the point when you try to hook up the RGB plugs to the RF jack (the only input pretty much all 1980 TV's had I believe)Thornwillow wrote:Wouldn't that be cool if you could travel back in time, say 1980 and you can take your Xbox 360 with you and show it off, lol.
But as gamelver said, you couldn't reverse engineer it. Not unless you brought back all the data sheets and drawings and schematics for every part. Even then it would take many years, and end up being at least 10X bigger because they couldn't make such complex parts as small as we do now. Just look at how big the NES is, and how small we now make NOAC's and you get the idea.
Now what I would do is buy a ton of stock in microsoft and hide it. Go back to now and bingo. M0nay$!!!!
Nah, you all know what I would do. Take over Richard Dean Andersons place as MacGyver
