Bargain Hunters...

Post by nickerous » Wed Mar 29, 2006 3:19 pm

I just read that Nintendo plans on keeping their first-party software titles for the Revolution below 59.99. Then Iwata went on to say that he can't see first party titles selling for more than $50.

Do you buy titles at "just-released" prices? Personally, I wait. I bought The Mark of Kri a while back for $9.99. I loved it! Awesome game! This past Saturday, I caught the sequel, The Rise of Kasi (sp?) at blockbuster for......$7.50. Both titles brand new when I bought them. Blockbuster also had the Wario World game for GC at $12.99. Picked that one up too.

Also, I saw a few PSP batteries for $17.99. They had a big 50 percent off section. Rise of Kasi was not in that section, but it had half/price sticker on it.

Just curious as to what most of you folks do. I noticed that many posters here are pre-teen or early teens. I know that when I was that age, I paid $40 plus for Super Mario Bros 3 and Metal Gear. Probably a bunch more, but those are the ones that stick out the most. I remember my Mom asking me, "You're going to spend $40 on a VIDEO GAME?!?" . Ahh, if she only knew how much more $ I've spent on them.......

I like buying them when they first come out because they usually have bugs in them.

I like em new. I just like the "cleanness" of the cd/cart and the case. I'm more of a collector than a player (though I'm the best GCN player I know :P ).

I have bought a grand total of 2 games at full price new in the last 2-3 years. every thing else was used (excluding gifts). I will probably buy one more (Rise of Legeneds, well if my computer's specs are up to it).

My best deals of all time: Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds for all of 5.95 at staples, and this was well before there were bargin bin jewlcase
versions of it.

^ what he said.

The only games I've bought new in the past year or so were GBA and PSP (short notice before a trans-oceanic plane flight). Plus if you wait a little bit you can actually read reviews of the game instead of judging it by all of it's marketing hype. I've found that like with cars you can judge how good a game is by how much used ones sell for on ebay. The faster a game depreciates tends to show how much fun they are to play or replay.

The ones I go after are new, sealed games. Exactly like they were first released.....just marked down. A few months after release, I go around looking for "player's choice" pricing on original games.

Metroid Prime Hiunters last week and Call OF Duty a few years ago are the only titles I have ever bought when they first came out. Otherwise I never spend more than $20 on any game, sinmply because I CAN'T AFFORD IT. 98% of my games are used/on sale at EB/thrist store/traded from friend.

In my entire life, I've bought 4 games on release date.

NHL 2004, NHL 2005, NHL 06, and Mario Kart : DS.

So yeah, i'm an NHL Lovin' Nintendo Fanboy, lol.

(but, oddly enough, i only buy NHL for PS2 and Xbox)
PS360Wii Fanboy FTW!
