If people are just going to abuse the unregistered posting in either the chat room or the boards, I would much rather make it so unregistered users actions are strictly limited, or that the have no access to post in either the chat room or board.

yeah, I thought that since I noticed there was a guest feature. Not only does it invite spammers, but you cannot block an IP address, so they are virtually unstoppable.
There was a spammer at another site I go to, (atariage.com) but, thankfully, there are some great moderators , and a lot of people are on that can notify the mods immediately. Everything was contained in 10 minutes
