Re: Port Minecraft To Dreamcast?
It would be easier to port Java to Dreamcast.

Re: Port Minecraft To Dreamcast?
theres a dreamcast port of redhat already. i would just be more worried about the DC processing power to run minecraft. my gaming rig struggles on it sometimes...

We could optimize it for dreamcast.

Re: Port Minecraft To Dreamcast?
seeing how its not open source, you would have to talk to notch about the code. but, seeing as java is cross platform, the linux version should technically work on dreamcast linux.

Re: Port Minecraft To Dreamcast?
As far as I know, Minecraft primarily relies on Java and OpenGL. As long as both those requirements are there it could work in theory.
It probably isn't feasible to run it in real life, though. The Dreamcast only has a 100 mhz processor and 16 megs of RAM. Minecraft doesn't need much processing power but it's a memory glutton.

Re: Port Minecraft To Dreamcast?
How about we get help from an "external source" like a pc?

Re: Port Minecraft To Dreamcast?
Yea, run it on your PC, connect Dreamcast pad to the PC and use some software to bind the buttons to the keys on keyboard, then connect your PC gfx card to your TV, and then put your dreamcast under your TV.Soulsaviger wrote:How about we get help from an "external source" like a pc?
Seriously, porting anything anywhere is senseless when you still want to use the previous machine to help.
Honestly? All my projects are far from being somewhat done...

Well dreamcast does have virtual ram or memory so you could use that and this is also a reply to the person who replyed to you. And im not talking about vmu.

Virtual RAM?
Not exactly feasible because it needs to quickly access at least 20 times that amount.
