Yes, they set it up perfectly. If you look closely and very carefully, you can tell that they're messing with you and it's not a ton smaller.

You may be able to save 50-100 bucks by buying the current XBox model as retailers clear out their stock...
Good point! Then I can void the warranty, mod it, maybe put in a window, paint it, cold cathode lighting... and play games of course.
I have nothing clever to say here. Sorry.

True...but it's still at least a little smaller, and that's what counts

I made the disk drive covers equal size:

It seems to be a little smaller in both directions. I'm assuming it isn't as deep either.

I've heard that the hard drive is replaceable in this one like the ps3.

This will still be good for 360 laptops though.

It's a little bit smaller and everything is built into one board, it's quite, cooler, and it might even have a smaller disc drive.

Hopeful thinking.

I don't think Kinect will do that great unless it works really good and has games that use it to its fullest. If it does a meh job and has meh games, that place is already occupied by the Wii.

Are there any pictures of it disassembled? I haven't found any. We'll probably have to wait until they start selling. :(

135W power supply? That new combined chip must be a good deal cooler and energy efficient.

And if it is cooler, the failure rate goes down.

Hello from E3!

My Joystiq article about the 360 Slim turned out pretty accurate. Having seen it in person:

1) About 1 inch shorter, a little thinner, maybe a little less deep. Mostly shorter if anything.
2) Capacitive touch eject button ala PS3
3) Still has a power brick
4) Removeable HDD but I'm not sure what kind. Pulls out the bottom near DC jack.
5) Front USB, side by side (like PS3) not stacked like old 360.
6) Not as ugly as photos, but in general cheap looking.
7) Hot air blows out the side. Big time.
8) Entire top is a vent (no HDD there haha)
9) Still a tray loading 5.25" DVD drive.
10) It's got a combo GPU/CPU and I believe is 45nm (like PS3 Slim) Still, as I mentioned, spits out as much hot air as current 360 if not more.

Natal / Kinect: At least 200ms lag. IE, someone jumps, they've already landed before their character moves. Wii soccer moms won't care, real gamers should. Demos "bubbled" off to make lines longer / protect from inaccuracy. Games total Wii ripoff crap.

Move: The lighted ball is rubber, you can smush it. Very accurate, "holding" rackets / swords onscreen impressive, but games mostly lame.

3DS: Nintendo's booth is mostly a huge line so didn't have the patience to try. Hopefully tomorrow. I hear it works though.

Yeah, the only thing that really impressed me this year was the 3DS. It seemed to be the only thing that was actually a complete and new technology. I imagine that it's going to be something like Head Tracking.

I don't have much faith in the new 360, only because I (as do many of you, I'm sure) have a stack of about 3 broken 360s in my workshop right now, and that's only only a shadow of what's passed through it in the past 4 years. We'll just have to wait and see.

Kinect looks like an attempt to "revolutionize the living room" that might work ok for about 6 months then die. It just doesn't differ enough from the Wii controls and the EyeToy.

Move looks like it was well made, but still a copy of technology more or less.

But of course, that's just my opinion from information gathered by watching the E3 vids.
