white led mod help

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

white led mod help

Post by Dantespice » Sun Mar 21, 2010 4:21 pm

alright today i finished my first white LED mod (which im happy about). i did this on a zenith screen and used these LEDs http://mouser.com/ProductDetail/Kingbri ... /pqMei0%3d" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; with this resistor http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Xic ... 1njdOw8%3d" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; i did all the connections correctly but when i plug in the ribbon cable to the screen, the LEDs are really dark. is it supposed to be that dark or is it something else?

What do you mean by dark?
If you mean color-wise, as in they are a grey or even black, I can't help you.
If you mean dim-wise, you have too strong of a resistor.

well thats strange because when i disconnect the ribbon cable from the screen and turn it on, the leds are really bright but when i put the ribbon cable in, the leds get dimmer. could it actually be my resistor? if so, which resistor would you recommend i get to get brighter leds?

It's not the LEDs, it's the ribbon cable connection, or the video connection to the console. Check all your connections and make sure everything is connected where it is supposed to be.

Well you need a resistor for each led and they need to be at least 33 ohms , I think
someone correct me if I'm wrong
