question about casio ev-880

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

question about casio ev-880

Post by devileyebrows42 » Tue Jan 19, 2010 9:04 am

Im thinking of building a psonep cnc portable from the book. but it requires a casio ev-680 (3"). Would i be able to fit a casio 880b (2.3")into the cnc case if i decided to make it?

sure, but those screens are sort of hard to come by and they do not have the best of quality picture. unless you already have the 880, I would gho for a 3" pustom screen from ebay.

I don't think you can. I took mine apart and it's internals are pretty different than the layout of the one in Ben's book. You could definitely use it for your own custom case, but that CNC design has the 680 in mind.

luckily i already have one from a couple years back. i think it should work if the circuit board of the 880b is smaller than the 680. i would just have some extra space.

maybe, but from looking at the pictures in the book and looking at the 880 LCD and mobo right now, I'm pretty sure the 880 is thicker and has a longer footprint. maybe smaller, but longer and thicker.

Proceed with caution.

I have what I think is the RCA equivalent of a Casio TV-880 and it's pretty terrible. It's kind of usable with an NES, but I've tried it with newer systems (like an N64) and I can barely make out what's on the screen. I'd recommend getting a better screen if possible, but I suppose if you already have it and don't want to spend a lot it will work.
