iBIGGERSCREEN

While in the car one day, I was watching a film on my iPod video and thought,"This screen is too small" . As this was a 3 hour long drive, i had a lot of thime to think of a cunning plan to solve this.
And here it is....
The iPod external screen!! Bascially hack up a PS1 screen to have AV input, make it hold the iPod and hook it up. Any advice before I start this??
edit: Just to make sure before I tear the yet to be bought screen apart, the iPod outputs composite video?
edit2: Yes, it does output composite

This should help you: http://www.ipodlinux.org/Dock_Connector
I'm going to use a camcorder AV cable instead, more compact and CHEAPER!! !! http://lifehacker.com/software/ipod/pla ... 138445.php

I made one of those for my little sister last week, she had to go on a 6 hour car ride somewhere. It was just a clear sandwich box with some 2000mAh nicads from Radioshack hooked up thru a switch to an LED modded PSOne screen. To get the video in, I borrowed my dad's 3.5mm AV cable and used alligator clips as connections (you only need one ground for the AV!), since I didn't want to have to buy him a new one. It was a Zenith screen, the kind with the headphone jack extension cable, so I just flopped that out the side.
Of course once she got home, I ripped it apart again. But it's really not hard at all to make, and it is very useful. She said it worked great.

That is exactly what I was thinking!! (yes I am the nubie from gp32x.com). Actually I was thinking the Archos owns, or maybe not, which one has full-resolution output and a hard drive?gamemasterAS wrote:Zune, Ipod........pshhhhh please. Gp2x owns them all.
You could get one of those 3.5"/2.5" HDD enclosures that play video and media off of ebay and use it with a portable screen
Seriously though the Zune has 30GB hard drive doesn't it? But the GP2X has all sorts of emus and games and a host USB port. Kind of a toss-up for video watching.
That sounds like a great idea though, just wire it up and let fly with the video watching, the only part that confused me is the alligator clips, sounds like somebody needs a few A/V sockets to solder to. PS I hacked up a pair of headphones to a camcorder cable at school once, both were just fine afterward because the only thing I used was Scotch tape .
