Acceptable Resolutions?
Moderator:Moderators
Well, I've been looking at a lot of LCD screens recently to find one for my portable, but, especially with the portable DVD player screens, the resolution seems to be quite low...
For instance, there's this: (Audiovox d1708)
http://cgi.ebay.com/AUDIOVOX-PORTABLE-D ... 35ace11e0b" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And it has a resolution of 480x234... 7"!
The PSone screen is 5" and has a resolution of 480x640, so that puts it in comparison... as a rule of thumb, how low can you go resolution-wise before it gets really noticeable? I would like to use the audiovox screen, but I don't know how it will look, and I don't want to blow $10 (I know, I'm cheap) for a POS screen.
EDIT: Oops, that doesn't have a/v input, so that won't be used either way. Still, though, is that a reasonable resolution?

Re: Acceptable Resolutions?
The Psone screen is 320x240. It can accept a 640x480 signal and downconvert it , but it's native resolution is 320x240Snipeye wrote:Well, I've been looking at a lot of LCD screens recently to find one for my portable, but, especially with the portable DVD player screens, the resolution seems to be quite low...

640x480 is a standard 4:3 ratio.gamax92 wrote:how would you have a resoultion of 480,640 that would be like flipping a monitor on its side.

That's what I thought.
I have been and always will be helpful to members here who earn respect. I have tried to be helpful to gamax92 and he spurned my help and has now cussed me several times.
And I have made nothing "worse" and I have wasted no ones time.

Hard to find a 5" screen with anything higher than 320x240.Modddi1 wrote:Could You find any screen that are a bigger resoloution
There are 5" 640x480 out there but they are Vga screens and cost quite a bit more and you still need an audio amp and speakers with them.

I found them online for around $100 which is a bit expensive.Modddi1 wrote:I Just Did

But it's widescreen which no one wants or likes for portables.
Other than that it would be nice as a gps system with backup camera.
If it was just a screen/speakers and av in , and about $60 it might be more tempting.
