Potential 7.4v GC Powerboard

It has this chip on the back.

I had fried one of these boards many years ago, I kept it and sanded it down.

WHAT AM I GONNA DO NOW OH NO

Let's see if we can power this board off of 7.4v just by bypassing something/ripping something off.

For some reason I think it might also be possible to put in 7.4v and get 12v out as well, could be neat.

EDIT: One hell of a 5000th post.

That looks like a pretty sweet chip. thing is, it does cost $10.88 for the chip alone off of digikey... the FETs would run you another $5-15, and the inductors maybe another $5
From the datasheet wrote: "Three Independent Step-Down DC/DC Controllers and One 12-V Boost DC/DC Converter"
And since it uses external gates, all you'd have to do is spec out the right MOSFETs for the right maximum currents at each voltage level.

Granted designing debugging that thing would be a serious PITA.

I like my solution better:
$9.5 .59~5.1 output voltage 10A output
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... 07-1384-ND" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
$4.52 5V 1.5A
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... -2196-5-ND" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
$4.52 3.3V 1.5A
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... -2195-5-ND" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
plus 2 resistors for the 1.9V regulator and you get around $20 for a regulator board (granted the 12V line is running off of 7.4)

No, no no. We are not using this chip to power the GC, this chip is already on the back of certain powerboards with the neccessary components.

Also, zenlocs regs cost much less than the alternatives you posted, and are more efficient.

Wow. Totally misread what you said there (oops :oops: )...

Not sure about this. When I searched for the regs he suggested here, they were around $10-12 each, versus the ones that I'm using that are $10 for one and $4 each for the other two.
Granted his are more efficient, although isn't efficiency affected by input voltage as well:
His 1.9V-91%
His 3.3V-92%
His 5V-93.5%
My 1.9V-86%
My 3.3V-85.5%
My 5V-90.5%

ah I tend not to do free samples. I'm too scrupulous.
