GameCubeSlim ~ Worklog

Post by zenloc » Wed Jun 01, 2011 4:22 am

Ok I've been planning for my new mass produced gamecube project. Named the "GameCubeMini". Now before I start mass production I'm planning on making a protoype which is an already bought commission by D_Hell from the Moddedbybacteria forums.

Project will include:

Gamecube + custom regulator
IBM Thinkpad heatsink with fan (running off 3.3v)
Wiikey Fusion + SD slot
2x 3.7v 5000mah li-polymer cells (7.4v 5A)
Internal 7.4v charger (1.2A)
5" Dalian Good Display
Sound amp with digital control + speakers
Built in 256mb memorycard (switchable 128mb memorycard for pal/usa and jap)
Built in sd gecko
Headphone jack
AV out jack
Original Power jack
4x Controller ports

Controller will exist from the following controller parts:
Wii Classic controller (analog shoulder buttons only)
2x 3DS analog sticks + custom nub
NDS Lite action buttons + dpad
2x Custom Z buttons

Color of the portable will be matt black. When all the parts have arrived I'll post pics of construction.

Are we obligée to provide all of these part if we don't want them in the gamecube? Line the rumble motor, psp stick instead of 3GS stick, Sd gecko , Playstation av port or the iPod sound amp??If we are, can you give some websites where we can fine the parts which are difficult to find( espcially in France)
Can directly ship the items to your adress? Thank you

Ashen has posted up a guide for trimming and wiring. As for the reduction it's not really that small compared to my version in my gamecubepocket :P

I'll post more pics next week.

I have a question about the video quality of the 5" Dalian Good Display.

Is it better than the PS2 screen and what's the min voltage it can run on?

Thanks!

The video quality is a 10/10. It accepts VGA RGB and composite. Possibly S-Video also but I haven't tried. It can run off as low as 5v.

Indeed as Ashen says it is the best screen I have encountered so far. Note that is only accepts VGA and Composite. RGB and S video sadly don't work due to the chip beeing auto programmed only to see those 2 signals. It's a pity as the chip does support Sync RGB, S video and component. I was able to get the datasheet from dalian themselves. If anybody think they can hack the display and reprogram the chip I could send you the datasheet via PM.
