I need to power a gamecube from a battery. I don't need it to be lightweight, but i want to build it from things i currently have on hand, which is..
3 PTH08080
2 PTH08000
11 rechargeable C 1.2v 1.2A(ish)
1 14.4V rechargeable NI-CD battery pack from a off-brand robot vacuum thing (unknown Amps, but it looks like its made of 12 slightly-smaller-than-C batteries
Various resistors, capacitors, and electronic misc.
All the tools i will need
the skills i will need
what i need are schematics, preferably a parts list, and which/how many batteries i should use.

Looking at hailrazers battery guide he says you will need...
Three 3.7v lithium ion batteries: http://www.batteryspace.com/polymerli-i ... AID=314743" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
A PCB: http://www.batteryspace.com/pcbfor111vl ... AID=314743" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And a smart charger: http://www.batteryspace.com/smartcharge ... AID=314743" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would pick up these if wanting to attempt a portable gamecube!

like i said, i don't want buy anything if its not absolutely necessary, i was wondering if just my batteries and this...
http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=29319
would be enough to power the gamecube for at least 1/2-1 1/2 an hours

You don't need to make custom regulators if you are using 12v or 14.4v batteries.matstermind wrote:like i said, i don't want buy anything if its not absolutely necessary, i was wondering if just my batteries and this...

We have no idea how long your GCP will run with the batteries you have because we do not know the mAh of the batteries. I would highly doubt thay will get you more than a half hour though as most Ni_cd have pretty low mAh.

You don't only need 14.4v, you can power it just fine with 11.1v.matstermind wrote:so if i only need 14.4V where do i connect it?
This runs right into the Gamecube regulator where the power from the wall adapter would go.

Re: power a gamecube from a battery?
Wouldn't running it on 11.1V unnecessarily shorten the battery life when the batteries cut out at 10.2V for the GC PSU? I mean, the cells can go down to 2.4V each (7.2V total).

I use Li-Po's . Run 3- 3.7v and you have 11.1v.bassmasta wrote:Wouldn't running it on 11.1V unnecessarily shorten the battery life when the batteries cut out at 10.2V for the GC PSU? I mean, the cells can go down to 2.4V each (7.2V total).

Re: power a gamecube from a battery?
would my batteries last longer if i ran the power through custom regulators, or the built-in one. Oh, and if it helps, i have the REV. C gamecube (dol-101)
Re: power a gamecube from a battery?
Yeah but they don't stay at 3.7V forever.hailrazer wrote:I use Li-Po's . Run 3- 3.7v and you have 11.1v.
I'm just saying that if you let the batteries drop to 8V or so, they'd last longer than having them cut out at 10.2V for the PSU.

Oh yea, you're right. That's why I just went with 14.8v in my GCP. That was 1 1/2 years ago. The mind has gone a bit foggybassmasta wrote:Yeah but they don't stay at 3.7V forever.hailrazer wrote:I use Li-Po's . Run 3- 3.7v and you have 11.1v.
