Hey all,
I'm new to these forums as well as portablizing. I was considering making a Gamecube laptop out of an old briefcase. The briefcase is ~20" diagonally. I was wondering, could I use any old optical drive I had laying around, as long as I have the correct wiring? If so, how would I wire such a drive? Thanks,

Re: Gamecube Laptop
Nope, you can only use a Gamecube drive with the Gamecube (not even a Wii drive will work with it directly.)

What exactly do you mean by "directly"?tom61 wrote:not even a Wii drive will work with it directly.)
Re: Gamecube Laptop
Electronics wizardry required. It uses a different pinout and encryption code than the Game cube drive, so you'd need something inbetween to translate.Muniosi wrote:What exactly do you mean by "directly"?tom61 wrote:not even a Wii drive will work with it directly.)

It's theoretically possible, but for the sake of argument, you need to use the gamecube disk drive. And why not? With a case that big, you've no space constraints...tom61 wrote:Electronics wizardry required. Thanks a lot, people! I only wanted to use a different drive to see if I could have a tray that popped out. It's probably technically possible with the Gamecube drive, but it would require extra electronics.
