Gamecube Laptop

Post by Muniosi » Mon Dec 27, 2010 3:44 pm

Hey all,
I'm new to these forums as well as portablizing. I was considering making a Gamecube laptop out of an old briefcase. The briefcase is ~20" diagonally. I was wondering, could I use any old optical drive I had laying around, as long as I have the correct wiring? If so, how would I wire such a drive? Thanks,

Nope, you can only use a Gamecube drive with the Gamecube (not even a Wii drive will work with it directly.)

What exactly do you mean by "directly"?

Electronics wizardry required. It uses a different pinout and encryption code than the Game cube drive, so you'd need something inbetween to translate.

It's theoretically possible, but for the sake of argument, you need to use the gamecube disk drive. And why not? With a case that big, you've no space constraints...

Thanks a lot, people! I only wanted to use a different drive to see if I could have a tray that popped out. It's probably technically possible with the Gamecube drive, but it would require extra electronics.
