PS1 power cable on PS2

Hi
I bought a phat ps2 from England(i live in belguim) and the power cord is difrent.
I thought that i would be able to use my ps1 power cable on it but i can't boot the ps2(light is red).
Is it possible?
If not should i just wire the wall plug from my country on the cable instead of the one from england?
This is the plug thats on the cable now(looks like it):
