gamecube custom disk drive?

In theory, the Wii's drive is compatible with the gamecube, but the pinout of the cables is different, so one would have to solder individual wires onto the ribbon cables and cross them over by hand.

In case it isn't obvious by now, there is no practical way to get any other disk drive to work on the GCN. The best thin you can do is strategically locate the DD in your portable so that it doesn't take up valuable space. Check out zenloc's GCp v.2 or hailrazer's NCube to see what I mean.

LOL! Although i bet their really is a way to put the Wii drive into the gamecube drive. Might be extensive work, but WAY worth it in the end, with your midget portable.

I wonder if you could put a LG-8164b disk drive into a mutation machine and then solder it to the daughter board... sounds too hard.
