how could i fix?

Post by joeyjoe9876 » Thu Aug 06, 2009 2:46 am

hi recently i took apart my gamecube (Pokemon XD limited edition) and the AWM 21107 80C 60V VW-1 cable going to the thing to make the disc spin broke -.-'
here's a picture of it

now i won't read any discs at all :(
if someone could please help i would be very thankful :D

also is there a way i could eliminate the disc drive all together and make it so it boots directly from a SD card?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH You killed a limited edition gamecube, nooooooooooo.

Anyway you're lucky it was the ribbon cable that didn't brake. You'll have to solder all of those to the proper place. And how did those break anyway, they look like they've been cut.

And as for the sd card replacement, it hasn't been done yet, otherwise it would have been a portable.

thats some friend! :wtf:

yeah, you should be able to solder wires into the solder legs at the back of the ribbon cable plug.

Presumably, the wire was cut mid way, so you have half on one board, half on the other. seperate each wire individually, strip each one carefully, and solder back together. Alternatively, take apart a few old CD rom drives and you will likely find ribbon cable that is the same size (presuming that it isn't directly soldered to either board.
