360 PSU Pinout

Post by totokan » Fri Sep 26, 2008 4:13 am

I'm going to use one of the extra 360 power cords for a psu for a project of mine, can someone link to a pinout? I can't seem to find one on here or google...

Yeah I've seen that circuit before... it's backwards on the actual cable, and I'd assume I have to do something with PWR_Enable, but I'm not sure what, actually...
EDIT: connecting it to ground only results in a Red light on the power supply, I'm guessing that means the 360 does something else with it. As expected, it normally outputs nothing.

I'm confused.

When you say "back of the xbox360 power connector" is it the side that goes to the 360 or the side where the wires solder to? It may be possible that 1 and 2 are swapped. :?

Of course they're swapped. The picture is of the back of the 360, they would be mirrored in the connector I'm using. Still, I can't seem to figure it out. Is it expecting some form of load or something? I'm completely lost...

Hello everybody,

Sorry I m little late!

I made the schema you are using. I found you cause you're using a link from my website and give me some hits -_^

To make this mod you doesn't just need to connect correctly the pins.

You need a PSU that give, at least, the same power capabilities than the XBOX360 orginal PSU for 12V and 5V. depending the model of XBOX360 it can be different today so just see on the back of the 360PSU something like 12V, 16.5A and look for your ATX PSU if it can deliver that or more Ampers. (otherwise you got the red ring)

Normaly is : 12V @ 16.5A and 5V @ 1A (for StandBy)

And be carfull, many PSU doesnt do what there are wirtten on.. so I recommand serious ATX PSU like enremax or antec...

Be carefull too when shortcut the Green with a black on ATX PSU : this gives signal to deliver power. Make some mistake here can destroy your PSU.

PWR_ENABLE is output, only used by 360 for the 360PSU : when you power up your xbox with the big button or from a controller/remote, it sends a signal from XBOX thought this to activate the 12V of the PSU and start the system (the 5VStandBy is used to give power to power up!). But of course a normal ATX PSU can t use this without some mods. for example:

Bye^^
