Gamecube 1.9v line???

Post by techknott » Tue Aug 26, 2008 2:28 pm

Does anyone know what the absolute maximum acceptable voltage for this line is?

Im really struggling to get hold of regulators capable of supplying the high current.

Does anyone know if it would accept 2.2v?

Id test myself but cant afford to blow it up right now :D

thats the audio line if im not mistaken and I would assume it would tolerate about 2 volts max man can you not just use some resistors.

The 1.9v line uses the bulk of the gamecubes power, so I'd assume it's powering the cpu. The 12v line is the for the audio amp.

Yes, 12v is definitely audio. It needs about 2.2A @ 1.91 volts.

Just wondered if anyone knew if it could take any more????

I wouldnt suggest doing that to a cpu maybe if you could salvage some of your powerboard but i would not suggest overpowering a cpu and wupps about that audio one forgot.

Skyone posted some very nice diagrams on how to get the proper voltages for the Gamecube. All of except 12v. Here's the link (it's the second post):

The audio uses 25W???

No way. Either you mixed up your numbers or more than just audio is running off of that (DVD motor?)

...You're all doing it wrong...

Answer: http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?t=18044

I personally wouldn't mess with that line. It powers the CPU, GPU and probably RAM as well. A CPU's voltage shouldn't be adjusted by even a fraction a a volt unless you know what you're doing... like if you're trying to overclock it or something.

Yes, the 12V is for audio and audio only, and does NOT take 12 watts. Dunno where that figure came from.

No, the DVD motor uses the 5V line... as well as the rumble motors in the controllers. From what I've found in my field-tests, the 5V line could even be cut off and the GC wouldn't suffer from it as long as it wasn't trying to load something off the disk; I did it.

Oh, and Digikey surely has what you need... is there a problem with using Digikey?
