No rumble in it. Wanted to save up as much juice as possible or I would have just left the original backlight in.

I think the rumble feature does not need a huge amount of space, what about take apart and old phone and get the motor from it?, only two wires from controller mobo to the motor and rumble added with minimal space needed.

the mobile phones are really thin and slim today, so I supose the rumble motors it have will be really small.

the rumble feature is also important at zelda games (for discover hidden places) and used at most of games to make hit sensation better.

I think it will fit perfect at your cuarent case design, and will take also minimal battery power, the mobile rumble motors are also designed for minimal power.
Lol, at least put a LED for know if the controller is trying to Rumble

I'd use 2 or more motors from a cellphone. with the mass of the portables created by the average modder, you would need that much to actually FEEL the rumble.

Actually, there is a reason why its downgraded to cell phone motors: the only reason to include it is just to know that the rumble is there. Because when was shaking a homemade semifragile thing ever good? And, The wieght is nothing like a controller in some cases, therefore it could actually be annoying to have it rumble.

I'd say that if the case is really as small as possible, the components would be so tightly packed that it wouldn't be all that fragile.

You would think that .... but in most cases you would be wrong. The majority of modders use super glue than hot glue to hold parts together. After a bit of shaking these come apart easily.

Of course we have some modders here that go all the way with nuts/bolts , epoxy, plastic weld , etc and those can survive a minor earthquake :)

In some games the rumble can advice you something...
like a near enemy, a secret or many other thinks...
if you don't want to add rumble you can consider in add a blinking led
near the screen that advice you of those thinks that could occurs in game...
