tried the PS2's 'Diagnosis Mode?'

Triangle on the boot menu and turning diagnosis on if memory serves correctly.

Could be a dirty lens. I've fixed several PS2's that wouldn't read any discs just by cleaning the lens. If it's a Slim-line PS2 then it's easy. If it's a fat PS2, then you've got to open it up. A little rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip will do wonders.

PM me your email address and I'll send you a file that has instructions and pictures on how to fix a couple of different typical problems with original PS2's.

Take out the bottom screws.

CAREFULLY remove the top of the PS2 because their is a VERY SPECIAL RIBBON CABLE YOU MUST NOT BREAK NEVER EVER.

Once inside, unscrew the top of the disc drive until you are in and see the lens.

Apply damp Qtip with rubbing alcohal onto lens.

Put everything back together.

Yay.
