I just got a PSTwo off ebay (for $58

) but it has a problem: the seller says that it works flawlessly, but when loading discs, it makes an ugly sound. Any idea what could be wrong? I've experienced this problem once with my friend's Gamecube, and his sound got better (not fixed, but better) after the system was cleaned and de-dusted.
Also, could you use that spray stuff for motherboards that they use on computers to de-static and clean on a game system?

well my psone (now portable) was doing this and to fix it you would have to tilt it on its side...so try that...on all sides also clean it out well. If worst comes to worst get a new laser. Does it affect loading games? if not live with it.

Well, I got that PSTwo from Ebay....it doesn't work.

It gets that stupid "disc read error" common with most disc laser systems. To boot, the bastard packaged it with a DualShock1 controller, and then had the gall to reply with "I work for Sony and know for a fact that a DualShock1 will work." Well screw him. What I want to know is if it's fixable. Is it a simple pot adjustment, or what? What would I clean the laser with?
Pissed,
CTFan

Did you ever think about buying a new laser unit?? They're only $20 on eBay, and I sort of told people that if you did go with me that you wouldn't have problems like this, of course I'm not implementing that I'm better or anything just the plain and simple fact that I dont screw around and get the cheapest stuff. Please understand.
Anyway the point is you should have done some reasearch and should have gotten either a version 13 [70001] or 14 [75001]slim. The version 12 [70012], is like a version 1 PS2 console cause it's the first of its kind for slim and had MANY laser/power problems. Hope that helps.

PS2M-99% -Final Stages of the 1st O.G. PS2 Portable (Will this ever get done??)
PSTwoSP- 50%

Hehe, nah. I fixed it! Just required some rubbing alcohol and compressed air. Plus, this isn't Sky's doing; he's already hard at work on designing stuff for me, so I have no regrets. Thanks, though.

The sound is from the disk tray being crooked or off track.

As gannon would do:
I could see why he didn't pick you to make the PSTwo, you're an ignorant, hopeless noob who obviously has no idea of the world around him.

Ignorant - Unaware or uninformed.
You are ignorant because you thought that I picked out the PSTwo and broke it. I did not. CTFan picked it out from eBay and it came DOA. Ignorant.
Hopless - Not a word. You aren't ignorant for spelling hopeless wrong, you are an idiot for spelling hopeless wrong.
Hopeless - Having no hope; despairing.
You are hopeless because you have no chance of:
1) Having a good reputation
2) People liking you
3) Building this portable for CTFan
