360 vga

Post by jeroen » Sat Jun 17, 2006 10:40 am

I saw that theres a vga cable for the 360 and I'm thinking about buying one. But I have no hd tv. I heard that if you used the vga cable on a vga monitor (well you can use it on some tv's). You'll get about the same quality video. Is this true?

Thanks anyway,

Jeroen

you should get the same quality as HD if you have a hi resolution computer monitor, if you have one that can do 1280/1024 thenit should look great!

Yeah! I'm stil not sure about buying a 360 though. But this made my lean towards buying even more.

Yah I got the 360 VGA cable so I could play my 360 on my monitor in my room instead of my crappy TV. You'll get HD like images on any 17 inch monitor and even on my old CRT it still looks amazing.

Yes it indeed works. You get a load of rez choices too. If you set to say 1280x1024 the game will even be a letterboxed "widescreen" while the dashboard takes up the whole display.

Yeah! I've got a Ben post. All hail Ben. Just kidding. K i'm going to buy a 360. But now decide wich game. I was thinking Perfect dark or cameo? (I've heard of oblivion and now i'm borrowing morrowind to try that out so don't suggest it please)

edit: wait why do I get the weird idea that ben's 360 laptop. (that runs of a wal wart) is gonna use a vga monitor too resemble the hd.

DON'T GET PERFECT DARK, IT IS TERRIBLE. I have not played much kameo, so I can't say anything about that one but, I would say, get Fight Night round3 for it. I played two player with some dude at the mall the other day and it was really fun, the graphics look very good too, I think it is the best 360 graphics yet. oh and Oblivion ROCKS!!! just so you know, though it rocks soooo much harder on my friends new custom built computer(I built it for him) with and AMD AthlonX2, 1.5gb ram, 2 7600gt's SLI and Rivatuned. It is purely beautiful at that point. :D

It's not 360 related, but I did stumble across a VGA mod for the Dreamcast a couple days ago. That won't help the DC graphics get any better (limits are the system, not the display), correct?

yea most elder scrolls games are better on the computer

Morrowind was better because of the ENORMOUS modding community (Better bodies and heads mod rule!)

Oblivion was just soooooooooooooooooooooooo much better with a really high graphics card and a fast 64-bit processor, just is no questions asked

The VGA cable is nice, but a waste when you have a TV with HDMI. I wouldn't know much, though. The Xbox360's only value to me is for the now microsoft-exclusive Rare games.

Yeah PDZ isn't very good, you gotta wonder what Rare DID for 5 years. Oh yes, they were busy porting it from Gamecube to Xbox to Xbox 360.

It's a shame too because the original Perfect Dark was awesome and way ahead of its time.

Oblivion is awesome, like a first-person Zelda. It DOES look better on a high-end computer, but a high-end computer, the video card alone costs more than a 360.

Well, Ben, having a super-powered PC has it's advantages for things like that. Trying out both versions (I only bought the PC version, the 360 one was given to me by some 'friend' who got pissed and broke his 360 with the game in it still... it only needed resurfacing), I'd say I personally like the console version better, the PC one only causes me hassle in terms of graphics settings. Plus, PDZ is a bad game, no way will I purchase that game. Personally, Rare's seems to be on a losing streak with games here. Not too-many high-quality games I've come to expect from such a great studio. Maybe Microsoft's control is affecting them...
