Desoldering

Post by Puff0rx » Mon Jan 23, 2006 11:44 pm

HELP! I can't desolder the cartridge slot. I have both a 17-watt and a 45-watt soldering iron and a metal desoldering pump, but I can't seem to get the pump in to the small pins while the solder is still liquid.

Invest in some copper desoldering braid. Best stuff ever.

It comes in spools and sticks to solder better than anythings. Melt the solder and put the braid on the solder and pull everything away.

um, the cartridge slot isn't soldered in...you mean the expansion slot, right?

anyway, I prefer desoldering irons, for the most part, but I only use them for stuff like desoldering cart slots (on a SNES, for example ;)).

braids are better for one time things, IMHO. I hate the normal solder sucker :P.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!
