Completed PsOneP - by the book
Moderator:Moderators
Hey everyone, first time posting here but i've been reading the forums for a few weeks now. I saw ben's book in Borders about a month ago, bought it on the spot (it was their only copy) and instantly became interested in making portables. Being that i'm finishing up a class in electronics (discrete components to microprocessors) and have been a fan of video games since the NES, this seemed like a great hobby to take up.
It took me about a week to find all the parts and another 3 weeks or so working on the project in my spare time to get it finished. I'm happy with the outcome, especially considering its my first portable and the case wasn't exactly easy to construct.
Here is some pics of the finished product . They're somewhat low-res because i shot em on my phone but i'm sure you'll get the idea
EDIT: Added some clearer pics taken with a digital camera. The flash makes the case look lighter than it really is, its a deeper blue like how it looks in the blurry photos. Also, in the course of being all happy and wanting to share with everyone i instinctually posted in the playstation forum, i probably should of posted in the book forum as it is a project out of the book, so if a mod feels this thread is more at home there plz move it ( i dont want to start creating duplicate threads on my 3rd day being registered )

Looks so nice. What is that paint and color? Also, how hard is the right analog stick to make?

Thanks for the comments guys, and I'm happy to become part of the community.
The case is engraving plastic (recommended in the book) i picked up at a trophy shop. It's not painted, the place i went to had a few different colors that they had extra of and i liked this blue the best.
For the right analog stick i made a slight variation from the book. I did use the fender washer to hide the stuff underneath, but for the actual stick i used the 1/4 inch size 6 spacer and filled it up with hot glue to get it to sit nice around the little metal stick that the grey joystick sits on top of. I didnt know if this would hold too good, so i let it dry to get the mold of the metal stick, pulled it off and then filled up the mold with krazy glue so it would make a nice bond

EDIT: Nevermind you just posted that you made the case yourself

Thanks Minkster, i made it myself but i did use ben's templates and stuff from the website so that made the process a little less painful
